In the beautiful traditional village of Giannades located 13 km west of Corfu town there is a small chapel. This chapel is dedicated to Agios Kirikos.

Agios Kirikos with his mother and Agia Ioulita, came from Ikonio, Asia Minor and lived in the 3rd c.

The three-year-old was one of the youngest saints of the Christian orthodox church, the story behind his testimony started from his refusal to obey the emperor’s Diocletian servant, Alexander, to deny the Christ. His mother was beheaded, while he was mortally wounded while trying to defend his mother and his faith.

The memory of the two saints is honored on July 15 by the church.

The only church, dedicated to the three-year-old Agios Kirikos in Corfu island is the one located near the village of Giannades and one can find it in the beautiful surrounding of the Corfiot olive Grove and the olive trees.
This small chapel stands out in the area and the locals have preserve it in excellent condition.

In Greece there are also other churches dedicated to Agios Kirikos, such as the Church of Agios Kirikos at the western end of the town of Agios Kirikos in Ikaria, thanks to which the capital of the island took its name.
