Celebration of Mushrooms in Sinies

The Cultural Association of Sinies and the Mushroom Enthusiasts’ Association of Corfu, in collaboration with the Mushroom Enthusiasts’ Association of Greece, are jointly organizing, for the 6th consecutive year, a Mushroom Festival in Sinies (Agia Barbara – Porta Sinion) on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The festival will include excursions for mushroom collection, truffle hunting with truffle dogs, lectures on mushrooms and environmental protection, an exhibition of paintings and crafts with a mushroom and nature theme from local elementary schools and kindergartens.

This year’s event will be attended by mushroom enthusiasts from abroad, including Serbia and Cyprus, as well as various Mushroom Enthusiast Associations from the rest of Greece.

The event program will include the following:

Saturday, October 21, 2023:

12:00 pm: Meeting at Agia Barbara, Porta Sinion (in front of the church) for a mushroom-collecting excursion guided by experienced leaders. Please bring a basket and a knife.
3:00 pm: Truffle collection demonstration with specially trained truffle dogs.
After the excursion, there will be a serving of mushroom soup.
4:00 pm: Commencement of the seminar titled “Getting to Know the Mushrooms of Greece” by Mr. Georgios Konstantinidis, a mushroom researcher and teacher (president of the Mushroom Enthusiasts’ Association of Greece).
5:30 pm: Tasting session led by the incredible Mushroom Chef Fotis Paraskevaidis. We will enjoy mushroom soup, grilled mushrooms, and other delicious mushroom dishes prepared by the chef.
The day will continue with a celebration featuring food and live music by the ‘PHAECIANS’ orchestra.
There will also be an exhibition and presentation of artwork in painting and crafts related to mushrooms and nature by students from local kindergartens and elementary schools.

These events are supported by the Municipality of North Corfu, the Local Council of Sinies, the Community of Sinies, the Mushroom Enthusiasts’ Association of Greece, the Kassius Dias Association, and local accommodation providers hosting the mushroom enthusiasts from abroad and the rest of Greece.
