Educational activities (and reactions) at the Annex of the National Gallery in Corfu.

Speaker: Marina Papasotiriou, Curator at the Annex of the National Gallery, Corfu.

The curator of the Annex, Marina Papasotiriou, will present the educational programs organized at the Annex of the National Gallery in Corfu. She will discuss the practice of digital storytelling in museums and schools and explore, through discussion with the audience, ways in which a museum can organize engaging activities for various audience groups.

The discussion will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 18:00, at the Library and Information Center of the Ionian University, Io. Theotoki 72. Marina Papasotiriou studied History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holds a postgraduate degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, UK, and a Ph.D. from the Department of History of the Ionian University. Since 2009, she has been the curator of the National Gallery and Museum of A. Soutzos at the Annex in Corfu. She has curated numerous exhibitions and educational programs for all audience groups, participated in working groups for the digitization and documentation of the Annex collections, and works towards the externalization, collaboration, and networking of cultural entities through partnerships with various organizations in Corfu and the Ionian Islands. Her research interests focus on the creative reading of the past in the museum by student and adult audiences, the use of new technologies in the museum, and the application of the theory of polygrams in the museum’s daily practice.
