About the Play:

What could happen if, after all the revolutions and movements of the past centuries, Princess Sissy met her assassin again, but this time in the Afterlife, where “everyone is equal” and the only thing that matters is forgiveness? This is the theme of the new original play “SISSY IN HEAVEN,” based on the life and untimely death of Princess Sissy, the sorrowful Empress of Austria. The play was commissioned by the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu (DIPETHE Corfu) and written by actor Zacharias Rochas, with Angela Gerekou starring in the titular role.

Synopsis:

The play is set in an “ou-topos” (Purgatory-Paradise), where time, titles, origin, and wealth have no significance, only the ritual. The souls must reintroduce themselves and the drama must be replayed from the beginning, this time aiming for forgiveness. Using humor and theatre-within-theatre techniques, the play touches on significant issues that shaped the 20th century: the value of lives when people suffer, the justification of a revolution with blood, and the importance of individual stories against the overwhelming flow of History.
