Nov 2023The “Rising Stars” are coming to the Corfu International Festival. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy them on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 19:00 at the Holy Catholic Metropolitan Church of Saints Jacob and Christopher.
Two exceptionally impressive chamber music works for piano, violin, and cello, written by two prominent German composers, Mendelssohn and Brahms, who have left a significant mark on the romantic repertoire with their music. F. Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in D minor, composed in 1839, was later described by R. Schumann as a masterpiece of its time. It is one of the composer’s most popular chamber music works, along with his Octet for strings, Op. 20, both recognized as some of the greatest.
In J. Brahms’s Piano Trio in C minor, a gentle musical dialogue begins initially centered on the piano and is followed by an ethereal commentary by the strings. The central part of the work, with its three-part structure, focuses on a tender, melancholic song first by the cello and then by the piano and the violin in musical fragments that have a somber and even haunting quality. The work was completed in 1854 when Brahms was only 20 years old.
