Agios Stefanos in Avliotes is an ideal choice for those looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Situated approximately 40 km from Corfu Town, it is a small seaside village that fringes a large sandy beach. Originally an old fishing village, it has developed over recent years into a non over commercialized tourist area.

From the port of Agios Stefanos Avlioton, transportation is available daily during summer and on a regular basis during winter to the Diapontia Islands of Ereikousa, Othoni and Mathraki, which are located directly opposite. For those who wish to savour the scrumptious seafood, fresh fish can be purchased from the local fishermen at the port in the mornings. This delightful seaside resort has several mini markets, various tourist shops and lovely, authentic Greek tavernas and cafes which are situated right on the beach.

Municipal transport is available through KTEL Bus Company, as Agios Stefanos Avliotes is relatively close to the cosmopolitan tourist resorts of Sidari and Acharavi. There are also car, motorcycle or bicycle rental companies for those who wish to have more autonomous movement and would prefer to self-explore the traditional villages of the Corfiot countryside that are surrounded by dense, verdant vegetation.

The beach

Its long, golden sandy beach and vibrant blue-green waters makes it one of the most popular beaches on the island. On the southern side there are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, while on the northern side one can relax in the shade of the imposing cliff face. Winds usually blow in the area and the beach is popular with kite-surfing lovers.
