The DIPETHE of Corfu, as part of the JUMP project of the European INTERREG V Greece-Italy program, presents “Cavalleria Rusticana” at the “skalinada” of Agios!

One of the most significant and beloved operas in the world repertoire, Pietro Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” will be presented by the DIPETHE of Corfu, in collaboration with the Corfu Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal Choir of Corfu “San Giacomo,” as part of the “JUMP” project of the European program “INTERREG V Greece – Italy.” The performance will take place (with free admission) on Monday, October 2nd, at 9:00 PM, in one of the most beautiful and emotionally charged corners of our city, the “skalinada” of Agios, which is the ideal setting for our opera, set outside a church in a Sicilian town on an Easter Sunday morning!
The direction is by Petros Gallias. The roles will be performed by Violeta Lousta (Santuzza), Angelos Samartzis (Turiddu), Pantelis Kontos (Alfio), Aggeliki Kathariou (Mamma Lucia), Marisia Papalexio (Lola), Marietta Savvani (Woman), Konstantinos Argyriou Evangeloudis (Young), and the choir members of the Municipal Choir of Corfu “San Giacomo” (residents of the Sicilian town). The musical direction is by Kimon Hytiris, the choir direction by Anton Ivano, the musical preparation of the roles by Michalis Papapetrou, the choir’s vocal preparation by Andreas Gousis, the piano accompaniment of the choir by Marilena Elou, and the assistant director is Maria Sourvinou. Special music interpretation advisor is Aris Christofellis.
