Ionian Academy | December 6-7, 2024
The Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University organizes a two-day event dedicated to the memory of Emeritus Professor of the Department of Music Studies, former Vice-Rector of Ionian University, composer, and musicologist, Haris Xanthoudakis (1950-2023), at the Ionian Academy, on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 17:00 to 21:30 and on Saturday, December 7, from 16:00 to 21:00.
The events aim to highlight all aspects of Haris Xanthoudakis’ work, which is an integral part of the collective memory of the Department of Music Studies and Ionian University, ranging from his administrative, musicological, compositional, and educational contributions, to his lesser-known side as a poet.
Haris Xanthoudakis laid the foundations for the Department of Music Studies at Ionian University and, with hard work and persistence, gave it a unique identity in the Greek academic scene by introducing artistic music subjects alongside the cultivation of music sciences.
As a token of respect, the Rector of Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros, and the Rectorial authorities, with the unanimous decision of all his colleagues from the Department of Music Studies, have named the building housing the Department at the Old Fortress of Corfu as the “Haris Xanthoudakis Building.”
The two-day tribute will be streamed live through the following links:
