12 Jan 2024The retrospective exhibition of the painter Vasilis Romanos will be inaugurated on Monday, December 4th, at 19:00, in the periodical exhibition hall of the Corfu Art Gallery.
Vasilis Romanos, born in Athens in 1937 with roots from Paxos, worked in the Greek Merchant Navy, traveling around the world. After returning to Greece in 1975, he has been living and painting in Paxos since 1995. His engagement with painting began at a young age, serving as a means of expressing experiences and images gathered during his naval service. As a self-taught artist, he experimented with various techniques, using his materials to convey all thoughts and emotions observed as an observer of his surroundings.
The exhibition will showcase Vasilis Romanos’s work, featuring many solo and group exhibitions. Notable mentions include exhibitions in Athens, Patras, Paris, and Lecce. In 2009, an honorary exhibition was organized as part of the European program Euran Global Culture Networks in Wijk aan Zee, Holland, acknowledging his contribution to contemporary art.
The exhibition will run from December 4, 2023, to January 12, 2024, excluding the Christmas holidays (December 25 – January 2). Visiting hours are from 09:00 to 16:00, Monday through Friday, at the Corfu Art Gallery, Ioannou Theotoki 77, Corfu.
