9 Oct 2024The Cultural Educational Association of Sinies, along with the Corfu Mushroom Lovers Association and the Greece Mushroom Lovers Association, are co-organizing on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, 2024, for the 7th consecutive year, the Mushroom Festival in Sinies (Agia Varvara – Porta Sinion) with mushroom collecting and identification excursions – truffle hunting with truffle dogs – a lecture on mushrooms, and an exhibition of paintings and crafts on mushrooms and nature by elementary schools and kindergartens from the surrounding area.
This year’s event will feature delegations of mushroom enthusiasts from abroad: Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, as well as various mushroom clubs from across Greece.
The event program will include:
Friday, November 8, 2024 (exclusively for elementary schools)
09:30 – 11:00 a.m. Lecture – presentation and mushroom identification excursion with young students on the theme “Getting to Know Mushrooms” at Agia Varvara, Porta Sinion
11:15 – 12:30 Mushroom creations and children’s workshop
Saturday, November 9, 2024
At 12:00 p.m., meeting at Agia Varvara, Porta Sinion (churchyard) for an excursion in the Sinies area to search for mushrooms, under the guidance of experienced guides – it’s essential to bring a basket and knife.
At 3:00 p.m., there will be a truffle collection demonstration with special truffle dogs.
Upon return from the excursion, mushroom soup will be offered.
At 4:00 p.m., the seminar begins – information on “Getting to Know the Mushrooms of Greece” by mushroom researcher and teacher Mr. Giorgos Konstantinidis (President of the Greece Mushroom Lovers Association).
At 5:30 p.m., a tasting event will be held with the amazing mushroom chef Fotis Paraskevaidis (we will enjoy mushroom soup, grilled mushrooms, and other mushroom delicacies prepared by the chef). This will be followed by a celebration with food and live music by the band “Ta Paidia tou Mpernte” for entertainment.
There will also be an exhibition – a presentation of paintings and crafts on mushrooms and nature by students from the kindergartens and elementary schools in the surrounding area.
The events are supported by the Municipality of Northern Corfu, the Local Council of Sinies, Sinies KOINSEP, the Greece Mushroom Lovers Association, the Kassios Dias Association, and local accommodation owners who will host the mushroom lovers’ delegations from abroad and the rest of Greece.
