CORFU. The Public Central Historical Library of Corfu invites you to a lecture on the topic: “EDUCATION AND THE CITIZEN – The character of education in 4th century BC Athens and the proposals of the philosophers.”

Speaker: Dimitris Skordilis, PhD

The lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 18:45 in the “Evi S. Laskari” Events Hall of the Public Library.

A few words about the speaker:

Dimitris Skordilis was born in Corfu, graduated from the 1st Gymnasium and succeeded in the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He graduated from the Department of Classical Studies. He attended the two-year cycle of Postgraduate Studies of D. Maronitis on the subject “Epic and Ancient Drama” (the False Tales of Odysseus in the Odyssey – the Angelic Speeches in Aeschylus). He completed his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor D. Lypourlis on the subject “The Politician and the Legislator in Aristotle’s Work.” He worked in Secondary Education for 39 whole years. He is the president of the Cultural Association Friends of School Prisons Corfu. He lives with his family in Corfu.
