Music Education Program for Infants and Toddlers
February 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025
Department of Music Studies, Ionian University
The Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University, in collaboration with the Greek Society of Social Pediatrics and Health Promotion – Corfu Branch, and the Corfu Medical-Surgical Society, continues the Music Education Program for Infants and Toddlers (ages 1 to 6). The aim of the program is to enhance the children’s connection with music, as well as the connection between parents and their children through music.
The classes from February 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025 will be taught by students of the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University: Eva Bouhounaki-Christou, Sofia Makri, Elsyne Papadopoulou, Melina Polychronou-Taylor, Chrysa Rizou, and Kalia Tzortzidi, with the collaboration of other students from the Department. The scientific supervision and responsibility of the program is held by Dr. Zoe Dionysiou, Professor of Music Pedagogy at the Ionian University.
The classes are held at the Corfu Clinic (Skaramangka Square), one day a week for each age group with the following schedule:
Each group consists of about 12 children, each accompanied by one parent. The musical activities are based on music-pedagogical approaches and materials for preschool children, developed over the last fifteen years of the program’s operation.
Children up to 3.5 years old are accompanied by one parent who is expected to actively participate. For older children, parents are advised to wait in the waiting area on the ground floor of the Clinic or in the main hall.
Those interested are invited to register at the Corfu Clinic, Tel. 26610 39615, Skaramangka Square. As a donation for the clinic, the suggested contribution is 50 euros for each child for the four-month program (or 80 euros for two siblings) (part of the funds will be used to renew the educational materials of the program). Payment is made in full upon registration. A priority will be given in the registration process.
