February 12 – May 31, 2024
Department of Music Studies, Ionian University
The Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University, in collaboration with the Greek Society of Social Pediatrics and Health Promotion – Corfu Branch and the Medical Society of Corfu, continues its Music Education Program for Infants and Toddlers (ages 1 to 6 years). The aim of the program is to enhance children’s contact with music, as well as the interaction between parents and their children through music. The classes for the period from February 12, 2024, to May 31, 2024, will be taught by students of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University: Magda Koulouri, Elisavet Bouranta, Nikola Fyrtopoulou, Dimitris Kelaiditis, and Apostolos Panagiotidis, in collaboration with other students of the department. The scientific supervision and responsibility for the program lie with Mrs. Zoe Dionysiou, Assistant Professor of Music Education at the Ionian University. The classes take place at the Medical Center of Corfu (Plateia Skaramanga), one day a week for each age group of children, according to the following schedule:
Each group consists of approximately 12 children accompanied by an equal number of parents. The music activities are based on music education approaches and materials for preschool children developed over the past fourteen years of the program’s operation. Children up to 3 or 3.5 years old are accompanied by one parent in the lesson, who is actively involved. Parents of older children are encouraged to wait in the waiting area on the ground floor of the Medical Center.
Those interested are invited to register at the Medical Center of Corfu (Plateia Skaramanga, tel. 26610 39615). The suggested sponsorship for the center is €50 per child for the four-month program (or €80 for two siblings) (part of the money covers the needs for the renewal of the program’s educational material). The registration fee is paid in advance. Priority will be given to registrations in order of receipt.
