11 Oct 2023The @artmatestheatergroup presents the theatrical work “Es Kocht,” which participated in the Adapt festival, reaching the finals. The contemporary female monologue explores various taboos, the “forbidden.” From the oppression of “invisible” female pleasure to that of self-harm. “I suffered. But I wanted him to like it. All I wanted was for him to like it.” A woman, trapped in her thoughts, with the space of her home being the only extension of her mind. “I am what I produce, what I offer, I am something measurable. I am a number, I am a quality, I am an object, I am matter. I am here without choosing it, in a way I didn’t choose, living a life I didn’t choose.” 24 hours before ending her life, we discover dark thoughts, moments from the past that wrap her like ghosts, we illuminate the darkness of her emotional state. A state that might remind you of something about yourself. Deeply feminist, intense, and raw, “Es Kocht” comes to reflect realities, with the spotlight on the protagonist’s strong desire to escape an unbearable reality.
