The new performance, based on the escape theme, by the Docs Theatre team of the DI.PE.THE. of Corfu will take place at the Municipal Theater’s Studio from January 11 to January 16, 2024, at 21:00. *Tigana: In slang language, it means to leave, to depart, derived from the phrase “tín káno.”
The DOC’s Theatre team was established in 2016 by members of the workshops of the DI.PE.THE. of Corfu. It explores new avenues of artistic expression, particularly interested in documentary theater (verbatim theatre) and devised theatre techniques, which it studies and applies in performances.
Previous productions include “Terirem: Women’s Testimony” and “Caesium-133. An essay on time.”

Director’s Note: The desire to break the rigid constraints of everyday life inspired the creation of this performance on the theme of escape. The repressed dreams of my adolescence (in the 1980s) and the compromises, big and small, made in the course of my life motivated me to travel with the team members along familiar and unfamiliar paths of our imagination.
Artistic Director’s Note: The DI.PE.THE. of Corfu’s team, DOC’s Theatre, presents a performance based on personal stories and improvisations, exploring the conditions of people who feel the need to leave.
In slang language: ‘to make a move’… or as teenagers say, ‘tigana’… Tigana, therefore, from our lives, from the conditions, the people, the circumstances that hold us back or that we think are holding us back, dedicated to those who left or never left. We are particularly pleased that, after the years of the pandemic, the DOC’s Theatre team of DI.PE.THE. listens to the public sentiment about ‘movement,’ about redirecting personal and collective dreams, stripping away vital lies, conveying pleasantly, in an imaginative and theatrical way, what we all think: “Can we accomplish everything and anything we dreamed of?”
