Short biography of the poet:
Born in Athens in 1928, Titos Patrikios has marked Greek literature with his multifaceted work and long career. From a young age, Patrikios found himself at the center of historical events. During the Occupation, he actively participated in the National Resistance, and in 1943, he published his first poem in the magazine “Start of Youth.”
He graduated from Varvakeio School in 1946 and continued his studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Athens. At the same time, he began writing poetry, and in 1952, his first poetry collection, “Chomatorompos,” was published.
Due to his participation in the Resistance, he was exiled to Makronisos and Agios Stratis. He then traveled to Paris, where he studied sociology and participated in research programs. Upon returning to Greece, he worked as a lawyer, sociologist, and literary translator. He continued to write poetry and essays while actively participating in the cultural life of the country.
His work has been honored with numerous awards, including the Special State Literature Award (1994), the Costas and Eleni Ouranis Foundation Award from the Academy of Athens (2008), and the International Literary Prize Premio Letterario Internazionale “Laudomia Bonanni” (2009).
In February 2020, he received the insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French ambassador to Greece, Patrick Maisonnave. Twenty-eight volumes of his poetry and prose have been published, and he has participated in many collective works.
