Mar 2024Evanthia Reboutsika and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gastouri, Corfu “OMONOIA,” celebrate the 126th anniversary of the orchestra’s founding.
On March 31, 2024, at 8:30 pm, at the Municipal Theater of Corfu, internationally acclaimed composer-violinist Evanthia Reboutsika, accompanied by 65 musicians from the historic Philharmonic Orchestra of Gastouri, Corfu “OMONOIA,” will celebrate the 126 years since its establishment.
The popular composer, with a particularly esteemed and award-winning career, collaborates again with “OMONOIA” after last year’s sold-out performance. She will be joined by both the female and male sections of the Corfu Choir, performing many pieces from her discography.
Selected parts of the program will feature the school choirs of the Corfu Music Gymnasium, the 4th Gymnasium of Corfu, and the choir “Ta Chamogela tou Mon Repo.”
Evanthia Reboutsika will present her significant compositions from cinema and television, such as “Politiki Kouzina” and “Aithousa tou Thronou,” as well as her major discographic successes interpreted by Alkistis Protopsalti, Giannis Kotsiras, Natassa Theodoridou, and others.
Admission for the public will be by invitation only, available starting Friday, March 8, from the “Korniza” stores at Georgaki Square and SPEEDEX COURIER in Koulines.
The performance will be conducted by chief conductor Spyros Rallis, with choir preparation by maestro Dimitra Kalogeropoulou for the Corfu Choir. Elly Karydi is in charge of teaching the choir of the Corfu Music Gymnasium, Agathi Koskina leads “Ta Chamogela tou Mon Repo,” and Nikos Dimitropoulos is responsible for the 4th Gymnasium of Corfu. Nikos Dimitropoulos also oversees the entire event, which will involve a total of 264 musicians and choir members.
It is noteworthy that the event is dedicated to the work and contribution of the Parents Association of Children with Neoplasmic Disease “FLOGA,” and part of the proceeds will be donated to this association.
