Kalamionas beach, in the resort of Kassiopi, is the ideal choice for a short swim or quick dip due to its location and easy access compared to the other beaches of this large tourist resort.

On the west side of the settlement of Kassiopi is its central and popular beach, Kalamionas. Covered by a mixture of pebbles and sand that ends in blue, crystal clear waters, it welcomes thousands of people every summer, with the only disadvantage being the fact that it has algae.

The beach is fully organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers and along it there are cafes and a taverna, from where one can get the necessary refreshments or enjoy a snack or meal.

There are many different types of accommodation nearby such as rooms to let, apartments and hotels, to cater for those who stay in the vicinity due to their preference of beach. There is a selection of water sports and in the area there is also a diving school for those interested in scuba diving as there is a fascinating seabed just waiting to be explored!

Its patrons claim that it is also an excellent choice for snorkeling.

Alternatively one can rent a boat and explore the coast or take day trips to other nearby bays and attractions. To the left of the beach is the beach of Imerolia, which is quieter and less developed in terms of tourism.

In summation, Kalamionas is a very beautiful part of the southeast coast of the island with crystal clear sea that is well worth visiting.
