Corfu Art Gallery is the first private initiative for studying the visual arts of Corfu island and now works as a museum. It was established in 2005 in order to host the collection of Michail Aggelos Vradis, a civil engineer from Corfu.

Since then it has hosted and organized more than 100 solo and group temporary exhibitions. Meanwhile, the collection is constantly being enriched.

A special characteristic of Corfu Art Gallery is that it focuses on the history of Corfiot art, from the 19th century till nowadays. It includes artworks of painting, iconing, engraving and sculpture, which have been created by artists who are either from Corfu or they have lived on the island for a certain period.

The five-floor-building of Corfu Art Gallery has an Etching Room, “Spiros Alamanos (1947-2011) Room“, which is dedicated to the homonymous Corfiot artist and includes also many of his personal items and tools, “Pinelopi Volterra Room“, which contains sculptures and paintings of the female artist Pinelopi Volterra, the Temporary Exhibitions’ Room, where various cultural events often take place too, a Library with mainly artistic content and also a Gift Shop with art supplies, books, small sculptures and replicas.

The main goal of the building, since its establishment, was to serve modern museum needs. For this reason, it comforts all necessary standards of safety, air conditioning, lighting, storing and conservation.

The last years Corfu Art Gallery is trying to widen its horizons by encouraging the continuous study of unknown aspects of the Corfiot art, by cooperating with the Ionian University on a permanent basis, by presenting educational projects for children and finally cooperating with other cultural vehicles.
