Kanouli beach on the southwest coast of Corfu is a small hidden paradise. The serene feeling that the beach gives its visitors contrasts with its rugged landscape. It is a genuine continuation of Halikouna beach, on most days its waters have waves.

The relatively inaccessible road to Kanouli beach is another reason that has not received interventions and tourist infrastructure. Access is via a dirt road, the route abundant with the most characteristic images of the island, namely the olive groves. As one reaches it the view of a kilometre of beautiful sandy beach is simply elating. Access down to the beach is by way of an iron staircase located there.

In addition, after a revitalizing swim, one can enjoy traditional food or seafood at one of the scattered tavernas on the neighbouring beaches of Skidi and Prasoudi or at eateries on the road towards Halikounas beach.

An interesting suggestion for visitors to the island is to explore the nearby, picturesque settlement of Agios Mattheos. If you ignore the turning to the aforementioned beaches and continue, on the main road, up the hill you will find yourself in the heart of this quaint, traditional village.
