Messonghi is famous for the quiet, relaxing vacations that visitors to this area enjoy, with a variety of accommodation options as in apartments and hotels. As a tourist resort it has affordable facilities and is ideal for nature lovers and alternative holidays. The southern part of the island has the advantage of having very special routes with hidden treasures that are worth discovering.

A river, the Messonghi River, which belongs to the largest tributary on Corfu, and a cape separate Messonghi geographically from the neighbouring village of Moraitika.

Messonghi, accommodation

Messonghi is one of the places on the east coast that is often overlooked. Of course there are large hotel complexes that stand out in Messonghi but also in Moraitika with the Messonghi Beach Hotel and the luxurious Domes Miramare respectively in these vicinities.

The combined area of Messonghi and Moraitika beaches comprise the largest beach on the east coast with shallow water, sand and complete organization regarding the provision of sunbeds, umbrellas, tavernas and restaurants and various facilities for those who wish to participate in water sports.

The campsite of Messonghi

The campsite of Messonghi, Messogi, has, essentially since the 1950’s, hosted campers and is well known. Located near the banks of the Messonghi River, both young and old campers have, for years, vacationed here, returning home with fond memories and some special moments captured on camera.

You can tour the area and try local specialities and Greek dishes in the nearby restaurants; such as the taverna at Kato Spilaio, “75 Steps” which has traditional cuisine
and an amazing vista or at the quaint fishing village of Boukari with its many authentic seafood tavernas.
